To the Bride and Groom
A Message to the Bride and Groom

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! The Coptic Orthodox Church rejoices with you as you prepare to receive the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony — the Crowning. Marriage is one of the seven sacraments of the Church, instituted by God Himself when He said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him" (Genesis 2:18). Our Lord Jesus Christ honored the sanctity of marriage by performing His first miracle at the Wedding at Cana of Galilee (John 2:1–11).

Your wedding day is among the most sacred and joyful moments of your life. The Church desires for you to enjoy every moment of this blessed occasion while honoring the sacredness of the sacrament and the house of God. The guidelines below are designed to help you prepare practically and organizationally so that your wedding day is a beautiful reflection of your love for each other and your love for Christ.

Please read this document carefully together, and do not hesitate to reach out to your priest with any questions.
